The destructive power of flood discharging rain and fog is so great that many accidents happened such as downstream traffic block, damage of electrical equipments, outage of power generators and flooding of power house.As well, penetration of the rain and fog induced large-scale downstream landslide of slope.To prevent any more damage, reasonable layout and related protection measures was critical in design, and prototype observation should be strengthened in operation. Practice showed that the reasonable opening of gate was an important non-engineering measure to decrease and prevent the influence of flood discharging rain and fog.
Stress of armor plate of the spiral case of large-scale turbine units

In this paper, it is analyzed that the stress distribution and change of the spiral case of the No.19 hydraulic turbine set in right powerhouse during the different conditions (the press mantling, the constant temperature and pressure, the press dismantling, the electricity generation), and the change rule of the spiral case is studied in the whole process. The stress change is allowed in the design. To one measuring point as an example, using it's monitoring data, regressive model to forecast the stress of the spiral case under the normal water level is set up.
Application of filling technology in east Wenzhou polder dike project

Filling method for embankment is of low cost, high efficiency and speed. However, as restrictions of poor bearing capacity in soft soil ground, its application in reclamation project is much less. According to the actual condition of Wenzhou shoal, combined with the construction in east polder dike project, this paper introduced some details about hydraulic filling. Further, experience such as how to control the load and resist the comprehensive interference of wind, wave and tide by sand pipes and bags and so on were presented, and the feasibility of application of hydraulic filling in complicated conditions was verified, worthy popularization.
Leakage detection methods for reservoir dams

Leakage is common for reservoir dams which not only affects the project benefits, but also causes serious hidden risks, can even lead to a dam break. Locating the leakage and its passage is the basis for further treatment which is key to ensure the safe operation of reservoir dams. At present, there are many leakage detection methods with their own applicability and limitations, and are restricted by site condition, environmental condition and geological conditions. Suitable methods should be selected based on method characteristics and site conditions, to achieve better detection effect.

The emergency gate of No.2 inlet of Changhu Hydropower Station occurred four accidents of gate drop in flood season since it has been put into operation in 1970 which resulted in destroying the arm and hoist facilities and influenced the unit’s normal operation. Therefore, we have been authorized to have gate tested dynamically. This paper briefly introduced the accidents and test effect. It also briefly analyzed the cause of accident according to check result.?
