摘要/Abstract

摘要： 尽管英国大坝溃决概率很低，但因为大坝通常位于人口稠密区和工业区上游，一旦溃决，后果极其严重，因此，英国对大坝风险的管控非常严格。笔者梳理了英国坝工史上几起典型的大坝事故，并探讨可从事故中吸取的经验和教训，以供参考。

Abstract: Although the slim chance of dam failures in the UK, the consequences of a failure would be extremely severe because dams are typically located upstream of densely populated and industrial areas. Consequently, UK maintains very strict controls over dam risks. This paper reviews several typical dam incidents in the history of British dam engineering and discusses the experiences and lessons that can be learned, for future reference.
