Abstract: As a core regulatory measure in China, the safety registration system for hydropower dams was launched in the late 1980s, which has gone through three stages of exploration, development and im⁃ provement. Dam safety registration has effectively urged power enterprises to earnestly fulfill their main responsibilities for dam safety and significantly improved the overall dam safety management perfor ⁃ mance across the industry. Currently, the system still faces issues such as insufficient refined manage ⁃ ment, the need for revision of some regulations, and inadequate capacity to respond to emerging risks. In the future, it is necessary to continuously optimize the system in line with new development trends of the industry, so as to provide protection for safe development of hydropower industry.
