Abstract: With large number of embankment dams completed and put into operation, summarizing the defects found during operation and the corresponding treatment measures would help us better understanding the operation of embankment dam and enhance dam management level. This article summarizes six common defects of earth dam, which are crest defects, dam height detects, panel defects, joints defects, core-wall defects and foundation defects. As well, different treatment measures are provided, for reference.
