Abstract: This paper introduced the standardization and legislation of safety monitoring in hydraulic and hydropower engineering. It emphasized the comparison among current technical codes and pointed out some problems. As conclusion, the advice was advanced that national safetymonitoring technical code should be enacted, the standards should be revised and the research on safety monitoring technology should be enhanced.
