Abstract: In this paper, the new development of dam monitoring automation are summarized at first, then some problems that need paying attention to are pointed out. On this condition, main technical problems we have to face currently and development direction of dam safety monitoring automation are pointed out based on development of uncertainty and un-linearity theory, also on network technology and virtual reality.
