Abstract: There are1800 sluices in all kinds to be built in Shanghai City, most of them had been built before 1980. Their design standard on the low side, poor construction level and quality, deterioated facilities resulted in a large quantity of sluices damaged. This paper briefly describes status, formation analysis and countermeasures of the sluices in combination with the investigation on the status of large and middle sized sluices in Shanghai, as well as the check results of sluices.?
