Abstract: At present, the second round dam safety periodic inspection are implementing in the whole electricpower system. Many defects and perils are detected out for some hydropower stations in use for 20 years in the second round periodic inspection. This paper analysed the safety conditions of hydraulic steel gates and hoists of 28 hydropower stations, indicating that it is urgent for hydropower plants to timely strengthen or renovate the gates and hoists which have serious defects and perils.?
